Who bakes for you
A bakery built as a second beginning
Carolyn’s Dainties was inspired by my mother — a teenage mother who went on to graduate college, raise a family, and meet mental illness with a faith that never let her quit. She was a teacher, a mentor, and an excellent cook and baker who made every meal feel like an occasion.
She instilled in her children values that outlasted every struggle: that dignity is built through work, that a kitchen can be a place of rebuilding, and that love is the first ingredient. This bakery is a legacy to her strength and her gift for making others feel at home.
Today Carolyn’s Dainties is staffed by women in transition — leaving hardship, rebuilding after loss, starting over in a new city. In our kitchens they learn the craft of pastry and bread, earn a wage, and build the record of work that opens the next door. Every order you place buys hours in the kitchen for someone who needs them. The pastry is the point; the people are the purpose.
